I had planned on releasing both The Cat and the Canary and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari soundtracks today (October 31st, 2022). However, I’ve had to push the release date back a bit, due to a series of unexpected, considerable setbacks in September and October which required the time and energy I needed to work on these albums.
During the past week I’ve worked feverishly in an effort to catch up, but the albums still aren’t quite ready. While some may consider them good enough to release at this point – for me, the albums are still not optimized, so I need a bit more time to work on them.
While I’m understandably hesitant to set another definite release date for these (or any other) albums, I can say with some confidence that – barring any further unforeseen setbacks – both albums should be available by the end of the year.
For now, here is an excerpt from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari soundtrack, which I hope you will enjoy. In the scene which this music accompanies, one of the characters has an unexpected middle-of-the-night visitor.
Since I wasn’t able to release the soundtracks today as planned, I composed Halloween Gavotte as a sort of gift. I hope you enjoy this new composition!
The “gavotte” in the title of this piece is, of course, purely abstract. Given that Halloween Gavotte is essentially an electronic work, the emphasis is on the timbre. There are thus many sound effects, etc., in this piece, including, appropriately, a witch’s cackle.
I’ll send out a special edition newsletter when the soundtrack albums are available on Bandcamp. Again, barring any further hindrances, I expect those albums to available very soon.
